Job Description
As a Remote Product Designer at career.imfdirectgov, you will be instrumental in defining and shaping the user experience of our cutting-edge products. This is a full-time opportunity for a passionate and skilled designer to work asynchronously and synchronously from anywhere, contributing directly to our mission of creating intuitive, delightful, and highly effective digital solutions. You will be responsible for the entire design lifecycle, from initial research and ideation to high-fidelity prototyping and post-launch iteration. We are looking for someone who can seamlessly blend user needs, business goals, and technological capabilities into cohesive and innovative product designs that solve real-world problems.
Your day-to-day will involve close collaboration with cross-functional teams, including product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders, ensuring a shared understanding and successful execution of design initiatives. You will champion user-centered design principles, conducting qualitative and quantitative research to inform your design decisions. This involves creating detailed user flows, compelling wireframes, and interactive prototypes that bring concepts to life and facilitate early feedback. You’ll skillfully present your designs, articulate your rationale clearly based on research and design principles, and actively solicit feedback to refine and improve user experiences, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the full design lifecycle from concept to launch, including user research, wireframing, prototyping, and high-fidelity mockups.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into intuitive user interfaces.
- Conduct user research (interviews, surveys, usability testing) to understand user needs, behaviors, and motivations.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive design systems to ensure consistency and efficiency across all products.
- Present design concepts and defend design decisions based on user research, usability principles, and business objectives.
- Iterate on designs based on feedback from users, team members, and stakeholders.
- Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in UX/UI design.
- Actively contribute to a culture of continuous learning and design excellence within the team.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD)
- Strong portfolio showcasing end-to-end product design solutions for web and/or mobile applications
- Expertise in user-centered design principles and methodologies
- Experience conducting and synthesizing qualitative and quantitative user research
- Excellent visual design skills with a keen eye for typography, color, and layout
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a remote environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), or a related field
- Experience with motion design or animation for user interfaces
- Familiarity with front-end development technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) to understand technical constraints
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment
- Prior experience contributing to or building design systems from scratch
