Job Description
This role is for a seasoned UI UX Designer ready to make a significant impact from day one. As a UI UX Designer at career.imfdirectgov, you will lead the design process from initial research and discovery, collaborating with product owners to define project scope and user stories, through to robust ideation, wireframing, and interactive prototyping. Your expertise will be vital in translating complex functional requirements into intuitive user flows and visually compelling interfaces. You will be responsible for defining and maintaining design systems, ensuring brand consistency and scalability across multiple products. Your work will directly influence how users interact with vital governmental and public resources, requiring a keen eye for detail, a deep understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA at a minimum), and an unwavering commitment to creating inclusive digital products for a diverse user base.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct user research and usability testing to understand user needs, behaviours, and motivations.
- Translate complex user requirements and business objectives into intuitive user flows, wireframes, and interactive prototypes.
- Design and deliver high-fidelity UI mockups and visual designs for web and mobile applications.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive design systems, style guides, and component libraries.
- Ensure all designs adhere to accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA) and best practices.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, developers, and other designers throughout the product lifecycle.
- Present and articulate design decisions to stakeholders, gathering feedback and iterating effectively.
- Participate in agile ceremonies, providing design input and supporting development efforts.
- Stay informed about industry trends, design tools, and emerging technologies.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a UI UX Designer with a strong portfolio showcasing a range of digital products.
- Expert proficiency with design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD).
- Solid understanding of user-centered design principles and methodologies.
- Demonstrable experience with user research, usability testing, and data-driven design.
- Strong visual design skills, including typography, colour theory, and layout.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote team environment.
- Experience in designing for accessibility (WCAG).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Interaction Design, HCI, Graphic Design, or a related field.
- Experience working on large-scale public sector or government projects.
- Familiarity with front-end development technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) to better understand technical constraints.
- Experience with motion design and animation for enhanced user experience.
- Certification in accessibility design.
