Job Description
Are you an individual with a strong work ethic, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to environmental responsibility? career.imfdirectgov is seeking dedicated Recycling Operatives to join our vital night shift team in Merchant City, Glasgow. In this hands-on role, you will be instrumental in the efficient processing and sorting of recyclable materials, ensuring our operations run smoothly overnight and contribute significantly to our city’s sustainability goals. This isn’t just a job; it’s an opportunity to play a direct part in building a greener, more sustainable future for Glasgow and beyond.
As a Recycling Operative, you will be at the heart of our operations, working diligently to separate, categorise, and prepare various waste streams including plastics, paper, cardboard, glass, and metals for further processing. Your meticulous efforts directly prevent vast amounts of waste from reaching landfill, transforming them into valuable resources that can be reused and repurposed. This involves operating equipment safely and efficiently, conducting quality checks, and maintaining an organised workspace to ensure maximum productivity and adherence to environmental standards. The role demands physical fitness, alertness, and a strong adherence to rigorous health and safety protocols, as you will be working with machinery and handling diverse materials in a fast-paced industrial environment.
The night shift offers a unique working rhythm, ideal for those who thrive outside conventional hours and appreciate a focused, productive atmosphere. You’ll join a supportive and dedicated team, contributing to a collective effort that has a real, tangible impact on the environment and the local community. We are looking for reliable individuals who are not afraid of hard work and are committed to maintaining high standards of operational excellence and safety at all times. Full training will be provided to ensure you are confident and competent in all aspects of your role, but a proactive attitude, a willingness to learn, and a genuine interest in environmental conservation are essential.
