career.imfdirectgov is actively seeking a highly skilled and reliable HGV Class 1 Driver to join our dedicated team for weekend shifts based out of our Enfield, London depot. This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced driver who is committed to safety, efficiency, and exceptional service, and who thrives in a consistent weekend work pattern. As an integral part of our logistics operation, you will be responsible for the safe and timely transportation of goods across various routes, primarily within London and the home counties.
Your role will involve conducting vital trunking operations and multi-drop deliveries, ensuring that all cargo reaches its destination in perfect condition and on schedule. We operate a modern, well-maintained fleet, and your expertise in operating these vehicles to the highest standards will be crucial. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough pre-shift vehicle checks and report any defects or issues promptly.
- Safely operate HGV Class 1 (Category C+E) vehicles for weekend trunking and local deliveries.
- Ensure timely and efficient delivery of a variety of goods to designated destinations.
- Adhere strictly to all road transport regulations, including tachograph rules and Working Time Directive (WTD).
- Secure loads effectively, ensuring goods are transported without damage.
- Maintain accurate delivery records and complete all necessary paperwork and digital logs.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with depot staff, clients, and other road users.
- Represent career.imfdirectgov professionally at all times while on duty.
- Diligently follow all company health and safety guidelines and procedures.
Required Skills
- Valid HGV Class 1 (Category C+E) driving licence.
- Valid Driver CPC qualification card.
- Valid Digital Tachograph Card.
- Minimum of 2 years of proven HGV Class 1 driving experience.
- No more than 6 penalty points on your licence (for insurance purposes).
- Excellent understanding of Working Time Directive (WTD) and Tachograph regulations.
- Strong commitment to safety, compliance, and responsible driving practices.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with a professional demeanour.
- Ability to work reliably and independently during weekend shifts.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with temperature-controlled freight or multi-drop deliveries.
- Comprehensive knowledge of London and surrounding home counties road networks.
- Accident-free driving record.
- Manual Handling training certificate.
