Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and isometric drawings to determine pipe layouts, angles, and dimensions.
- Cut, thread, bend, groove, and weld pipes according to specifications, using various tools and equipment.
- Assemble and install piping systems, including valves, hangers, supports, and other components, ensuring proper alignment and functionality.
- Inspect, test, and troubleshoot installed systems for leaks, defects, and compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
- Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on existing piping systems to ensure optimal operational efficiency and longevity.
- Collaborate effectively with project managers, engineers, welders, and other tradespersons to ensure seamless project execution.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and environmental guidelines on all job sites.
Required Skills
- Proven ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, P&IDs, and isometric drawings.
- Expertise in various pipe joining techniques, including welding (SMAW, GTAW preferred), threading, soldering, and brazing.
- Proficiency with hand and power tools common to the pipefitting trade (e.g., pipe cutters, reamers, threaders, grinders).
- Strong understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, as well as relevant codes and standards (e.g., ASME, API).
- Exceptional attention to detail, precision, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to all safety protocols.
- Physical stamina and dexterity to perform demanding tasks, including lifting heavy materials and working in various positions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Journeyman Pipefitter certification or equivalent state licensure.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- Experience working on commercial, industrial, or large-scale institutional projects.
- Proficiency in operating heavy equipment relevant to pipe installation.
