career.imfdirectgov is immediately seeking a dedicated and experienced Head Cargo Handler to lead our dynamic night shift operations in Brandon, Manitoba. This is a critical leadership role that ensures the efficient, safe, and accurate movement of cargo, playing a vital part in our supply chain success. As the Head Cargo Handler, you will be responsible for overseeing all night shift activities, including loading, unloading, sorting, and dispatching various types of freight. You will lead a team of cargo handlers, ensuring compliance with all company policies, safety regulations, and operational procedures.

Key Responsibilities
- Supervise, train, and mentor a team of night shift cargo handlers, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to schedules.
- Oversee the efficient and safe loading, unloading, sorting, and staging of freight using various material handling equipment, including forklifts.
- Ensure accurate documentation of all incoming and outgoing shipments, including manifest verification and discrepancy reporting.
- Implement and enforce all safety protocols and company policies to maintain a secure working environment during the night shift.
- Coordinate with dispatch and other departments to ensure smooth operational flow and timely departures.
- Conduct regular equipment inspections and report any maintenance needs to ensure continuous operation.
- Resolve operational issues and unforeseen challenges quickly and effectively to minimize disruptions.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment throughout the night shift.
Required Skills
- Minimum 4 years of experience in cargo handling, warehousing, or a related logistics field.
- Proven leadership or supervisory experience in a night shift or fast-paced environment.
- Valid forklift operator certification and extensive experience with various material handling equipment.
- Strong understanding of warehouse operations, safety standards, and cargo handling procedures.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team-building skills.
- Ability to work independently and make critical decisions under pressure.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications for record-keeping and communication.
- Physical ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and perform strenuous tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED; post-secondary education in Logistics or Supply Chain Management is a plus.
- Experience with inventory management systems or warehouse management software (WMS).
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Familiarity with Brandon's local logistics network and regulations.
