Job Description
As an experienced Electrician, you will play a pivotal role within the dynamic team at career.imfdirectgov, ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems. Your expertise will be crucial in a variety of settings, ranging from commercial properties to industrial facilities, contributing directly to the operational success and safety standards of our diverse projects across Ripon and the wider North Yorkshire region. This role demands a keen eye for detail, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and strict adherence to all health and safety regulations, including the latest IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671). You will be responsible for diagnostic testing, fault-finding, upgrading existing systems, and installing new electrical infrastructure, always ensuring maximum efficiency and minimal disruption. Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on electrical systems to ensure compliance with safety standards and operational efficiency.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical malfunctions using appropriate testing devices.
- Interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams to determine the layouts of electrical systems.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations, including BS 7671 IET Wiring Regulations.
- Collaborate with other trades professionals and project managers to ensure seamless project execution.
- Prepare comprehensive reports on work performed, materials used, and identified issues.
Required Skills
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent qualification.
- City & Guilds 2382 (18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations).
- Proven experience as a qualified Electrician, minimum 3 years.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic abilities.
- Excellent knowledge of health and safety standards and practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid UK driving license.
Preferred Qualifications
- City & Guilds 2391 Inspection and Testing qualification.
- Experience with industrial control systems or automation.
- Familiarity with various types of commercial and industrial electrical installations.
